Why is the NLU Preference List Important?

Submitting the NLU preference list is an essential part of the CLAT 2025 admission process. A candidate can secure admission at only those NLUs which are part of their preferences. A minimum of 15 universities must be provided in the NLU preferences. There is no maximum limit.

In CLAT 2025, candidates were required to submit their NLU preferences at the time of CLAT counselling registration.

How the Score Changes in CLAT 2025 Revised Result?

A detailed breakdown of revised result shows that a candidate's score in the Common Law Admission Test will fluctuate widely in the best case and the worst case scenario. Why will the Consortium of NLUs Allow Fresh NLU Preferences?

In CLAT 2025 candidates got the opportunity to submit their NLU preferences after the result was declared. Candidates had the benefit of submitting the list as per their CLAT 2025 score to maximise their chances of admission.

As seen in the table above, there is likely to be a huge gap between a candidate’s old CLAT score and the revised score that will affect their NLU chances. The Consortium of NLUs has accepted the Delhi HC verdict and agreed to change the result. This necessitates that candidates must be allowed to submit fresh NLU preferences that are in alignment with the result and provide all the candidates a fair chance of admission at an NLU they deserve.

How to Submit NLU Preferences?

Candidates can submit the NLU preference list in the order of preference through their login. A minimum of 15 preferences must be submitted. There is no maximum limit. Given below are the steps to provide the NLU preferences -

  • Login to CLAT 2025 account

  • Click on the counselling registration option.

  • Click on Update preferences

  • Select the NLUs in the order of preference

  • Submit the preferences
