The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has released the first CLAT 2025 merit list today, May 26, 2025 on its official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The CLAT 2025 merit list includes details such as rank, admit card no. reservation category, and admission status. Candidates included in the CLAT 2025 first merit list have to pay the confirmation fee by May 30, 2025, 1:00 pm and the university fee by June 14 by 5 pm to obtain seat allotment. The CLAT 2025 cut-off for the first round will also be available through the first merit list of CLAT 2025. There will be three rounds of CLAT 2025 counselling as per the revised schedule. Due to the court petitions filed against the CLAT 2025 answer key, the publication of the first merit list of CLAT 2025 was delayed. The Consortium of NLUs published the CLAT 2025 revised result on May 17, 2025. The CLAT 2025 counselling registrations closed on May 21 as per the revised schedule.

The consortium will publish the CLAT 2025 merit list before commencing each round of CLAT 2025 counselling. Through the Common Law Admission Test, candidates will be admitted into the 5-year LLB and LLM programmes of participating NLUs. CLAT 2025 was conducted on December 1, 2024.
Candidates must keep track of the dates for the publication of the first merit list of CLAT 2025 and the admission schedule for the first round of counselling. The dates will be updated in the table given below upon official notification.

Admission status
After the publication of the first merit list of CLAT 2025 by the consortium, the candidates are required to complete the admission formalities to obtain CLAT 2025 seat allotment. The steps to be taken by the candidates after publication of the merit list are given below -
Candidates are required to choose the freeze/float or exit option after the merit list is published.
Candidates who are satisfied with the allotted seat or who have been allotted the first choice in their NLU preference list can choose the freeze option. Such candidates must pay the confirmation fee of Rs 20000. They will not be considered for further rounds.
Candidates who did not get their first preference can choose the float option. They can freeze the allotted seat by paying a confirmation fee of Rs 20000. However, such candidates will be considered for further rounds of counselling and upgraded to a higher NLU preference if seats fall vacant.
Candidates who choose the exit option will not be considered for admission.
The allotted candidates are required to complete document verification and payment of university fees. The confirmation fee is adjusted against the total university fee to be paid by the candidate.
