CLAT 2025 HC Hearing: Delhi HC Hearing Started on April 9; Check Details

The Delhi HC has resumed the CLAT 2025 hearing today, April 9, 2025. The CLAT 2025 Delhi HC hearing is chaired by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela. The CLAT 2025 cases are listed from Item no. 90 to 104 in the supplementary cause list for April 9. The court will hear petitions related to the CLAT UG exam first. The CLAT PG 2025 cases will be heard afterwards. In the CLAT 2025 HC hearing on April 8, the counsel representing the Consortium, Sr. Advocate Rajashekhar Rao, explained the CLAT answer key redressal process and also cited examples to show that courts should not interfere in academic matters. The counsels representing candidates Aditya SIngh and Harshit Garg also argued on behalf of the clients to rectify the alleged mistakes in the answer key.

The resolution of the cases will pave the way for the CLAT 2025 counselling, which has been postponed indefinitely. There are a total of 15 pending cases pertaining to CLAT 2025. If the mistakes in the CLAT 2025 final answer key are upheld, then the Consoritum of NLUs will be required ot publish the revised CLAT 2025 results. Delhi HC Decision Updates in the CLAT 2025 Hearing

April 8 Hearing

In the April 8 hearing, the court could only hear the petitions of two candidates, namely Aditya Singh and Harshit Garg. Senior Advocate, Rajashekhar Rao also argued on behalf of the consortium and insisted that courts should not interfere in academic matters as the answer key has been prepared and reviewed by experts. He also explained the CLAT answer key objection handling process to the judges. During the hearing, the court also advised the Consortium to revisit the question paper setting process. The court will resume hearing the CLAT UG cases on April 9. CLAT PG cases will be heard after the CLAT UG cases are resolved.

April 7 Hearing

The Division Bench said that there was an urgency needed in hearing the challenges and expressed its intention to resolve the matters at the earliest. The initial focus is to resolve the controversies pertaining to CLAT UG and then see what can be done in matters of CLAT PG. The CLAT 2025 result petitions will be heard again on April 8, 2025.

What’s Next for Candidates?

Candidates who appeared for CLAT UG can hope that a decision will be made after the hearings are completed. The HC has reiterated its commitment to resolve the cases as quickly as possible. If the verdict comes out, then the Consortium of NLUs is expected to restart the CLAT 2025 counselling process in April 2025. Until then candidates have to wait. CLAT PG cases may take longer to get resolved.

There are 15 pending cases in CLAT 2025 pertaining to CLAT UG and CLAT PG. In its last hearing on March 3, the Delhi HC had directed that the petitions for the UG and PG exams must be grouped separately for a faster resolution of the cases. The 15 cases are given below.
